Coris BioConcept is a high technology company offering innovative solutions for the detection of enteric and respiratory pathogens to biomedical and research laboratories.
A biotechnology company developing rapid tests for diagnosis of enteric and respiratory pathogens Coris BioConcept was founded in October 1996 by two biologists, Thierry LECLIPTEUX and Olivier RAIMOND, and two other investors. They came from a former biotechnology company. Their aim was to provide a global service in the diagnostic field: they opted for immunochromatography. At the beginning tests were elaborated to detect viral human pathogens in the 0 to 2 years old kids. A prototype was created in 1996 and the first kit was sold by mid 1997: it was the first immunochromatographic test for detecting Rotavirus to be commercialised in Europe. At present Coris BioConcept develops rapid tests to detect enteric and respiratory human pathogens. Tests are based on the colloidal gold particles immunochromatographic technique. Once the stick is dipped into sample solution, liquid sample and gold conjugates both migrate by capillarity. At the end of the chromatography process, one or two red lines appear indicating either a negative or a positive result. These tests are specific, sensitive, rapid, economic, convenient, do not require any sophisticated extra material for interpreting the results, are more sensitive than classical latex tests, and give unequivocal diagnosis within 5 to 15 minutes. Sticks could be dried and archived for any further use needed in any ISO requirements.
